What are the dates for the 2022 “test” season?

During our first year, we will host the Farmers Market once a month, beginning in July through October.  We’ll be open on the Second Saturdays, on July 9, August 13, Sept 10 & October 8, 2022.

What hours will the Market be open?

We’ll be open to the public from 9 am to 1 pm, with 1 hour prior for vendor set-up & 1 hr after for breakdown and clean-up.

Is there a deadline to apply to be a Vendor?

Yes! The deadline to sign up is June 25, 2022. Application fee & vendor space fee must be submitted by July 1.

What is the cost for the vendors?

  1. Vendor cost is being kept low during our “test season” out of respect for our vendors, so it will only cost $20 per ‘space’ per month, plus a $10 application fee.
     

  2. Vendors who wish to participate in our cutting-edge preordering system, with added marketing of their products, will pay a nominal fee for added sales capability.

What size is the vendor space?

A single Space is 10’ x 10’.

What if I need more space than 10x10?

Additional 10x10 blocks may be added. There is a $20 fee per 10x10 block. There may be a 4 block limit, depending on available space on site.

Is equipment being provided, i.e. - tents & tables?

We are unable to provide equipment rentals this “test” season. You may design your vendor space to suit your style, provided it meets fire safety standards, does not put other vendors, volunteers or customers at risk of trip & fall or other injuries. Have fun with it!

After I submit an application, is there anything else I need to do?

  1. Yes! If you are required to have a license or permit to sell your products in Prince George’s County, you must submit a copy of your permit to Forward Farmers Market. Farms and farm category vendors are required to have permits.
     

  2. There is a $10 fee for application & $20/ space per month. You can submit payment online with your application.

Am I required to sign up for every market day?

  1. No, it is not required. However, we are only accepting 15 vendors this year (food trucks not counted). Therefore, vendors who request & pay for all 4 dates will be given preference.
     

  2. You can partner with another vendor if you are limited in your available dates or inventory. That arrangement is between you and other vendors, Forward Farmers Market will not facilitate those arrangements. You will be required to notify Forward Farmers Market in advance to avoid confusion and potential additional space rental fees.

Are you being paid to start-up the Forward Farmers Market in Fort Washington?

No, the Forward Farmers Market is a project of the new non-profit group, Fort Washington Forward. Our Executive Officers and Board of Directors are all volunteers. We are just a group of residents of Fort Washington who banded together to help make our town a place to live, work and have fun right here in our community without having to brave traffic and go to DC or VA to shop, dine and find entertainment.
